Mt. Holly is one of three locations to ski and snowboard in Oakland County. The resort hosts 20 trail runs, seven chairlifts, four rope tows, two SunKid Wonder Carpets, and Southeastern Michigan’s only high-speed detachable chairlift. Skiers and snowboarders of all levels can discover fun at Mt. Holly, whether you’re searching for easier trail runs to try, terrain parks to style on, or expert level slopes to race your friends. Visit “where the north begins” and stay active during this chilly time of year.

Located in Groveland Township, Mt. Holly is open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday. Watch this quick preview of the resort before you head out:

The Slopes

Mt. Holly has something for everyone. The ski resort’s 20 trail runs range from beginner to advanced. As riders speed down the trail runs, freestyle skiers and snowboarders soar through the air and accomplish incredible feats in the resort’s three terrain parks. This season, the resort built a fresh terrain park with 13 features, leading to exciting possibilities for new and experienced riders! Check out this trail map of Mt. Holly for a visual of the slopes:

Programs and Activities

The Mt. Holly Ski School hosts private and semi-private ski and snowboard lessons for all ages. In addition, the resort organizes two Student Patch Programs for skiing and snowboarding that provides students with reduced rates Monday through Friday and includes two lesson tickets. For skiers ages 5-10, the school offers a special “Kinderspark” ski lesson package. Various high school downhill ski racing teams call Mt. Holly home. If you’re searching for competition, Thunderbolt Training Centers offers two programs at the resort: The Junior Development Racing Program and the Sunday Morning Race Series. The Race Series begins at Pine Knob in Clarkston on January 13th and alternates with Mt. Holly for seven total races.

Skiers and snowboarders at the base of the hill line up for the chairlift.

Mt. Holly participates in two Michigan Snowsports Industries Association programs: Cold is Cool and Discover Michigan Skiing. Cold is Cool lets fourth and fifth graders ski at a discount. Parents can purchase a $20 passport that gives them multiple lift tickets or trail passes to over 25 ski areas, including two tickets for Mt. Holly. The passport also includes 20% off a helmet purchase and $20 off a $100 purchase at participating Michigan ski shops. Discover Michigan Skiing offers an affordable introduction to the sports of skiing and snowboarding thanks to a collaboration between McDonald’s restaurants and ski areas across the state. The $35 cost includes a ski or snowboard rental, a beginner lesson, and a lift ticket for Mt. Holly.

Skiers prepare to ride the slopes beside the Mach 1 Express, Southeastern Michigan's only high-speed detachable chairlift.

The resort offers a variety of locations to take a break from the slopes. If you’re searching for food and warmth, the resort has a full lodge with two cafeterias, plenty of fireplaces, and a full-service ski shop. Just outside of the lodge is a 4,200-square-foot heated paver patio and a centered fireplace where you can watch riders fly down the slopes of Mt. Holly while staying warm!

Mt. Holly is located at 13536 Dixie Highway, Holly, MI 48442. The resort is open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday. View the current condition of their slopes here.
